The New
Moline Jaycees
Oct 1st Minutes

--We have possibly three new prospective members: Mike, Aaron, and Jennifer.

--We will possibly be providing some sort of handout to put in the booklets for the St. Ambrose/Augustana Career Fair.

--We have decided to enter the Moline Dad's club Halloween Parade on Oct 19th.  We plan to hand out flyers and candy.  The following people have shown interest in participating: Shawn & Sheri, Justin, Chip & Laura and the kids, Jennifer, and Mike.  Rich has offered to drive his Jeep.  Everyone should plan to wear some sort of costume.  I will be contacting everyone with more details.

--The Golf Outing turned out very well despite us losing $75 for the people who said they would be at the dinner and did not show up.

--The QC Marathon was a success, we handed out GU packets to the runners, check the website for pictures.  Thank you to everyone who participated.

--We have decided on the long-sleeved shirts- color will be gray with maroon lettering.  The cost is $6.50 for S-XL and $7.69 for XXL and $50 for setup costs.  We have to order 72 shirts.  We need everyone to bring their money to either the Halloween Parade or the next meeting.

--We also decided to purchase business cards with the Moline Jaycees logo and website address on them.  There will be a blank space for members to write their name and contact information.  Shawn has donated his printer and toner to print these.  He will make 250 of them to start then we can decide if we want more made up.  The cost for the whole thing is $13.00.

--We will not be doing anything with the Christine Friendliness Group until next spring.

--We are very much in need of some sort of fundraising event.  Jennifer has suggested raking yards for the fall or a fundraiser that Pizza Hut has to offer.  Dave is looking into a Younkers fundraiser.

--Chip is still working on an M Night.  I have an idea for the M Night that could serve as a Fundraiser/Recruitment Night.  We could put on a Charity Halloween Costume party either Friday the 31st or November 1st.  We could charge a small admission fee that would benefit a charity project that we will be doing for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

--Our next meeting will be Wed., November 5th.  I might call a meeting within the next two weeks if needed.  A board member will be contacting you.

--Jennifer McCalester brought up the idea about fundraising at the Mark - working the concession stands at an event.  We will get 10% of the total sales of the cash register that you are working.  She had to have people sign up so we could send it in to the Mark.   There is a required training class for this.

--Some other ideas were brought up for fundraising - River Bandits.  If you have any other ideas, please let Steve know or bring them to the next meeting.

--Chip Krebs is going to organize a Monthly Social for December 19th at 5:30 at Greenbriar's - by Southpark.  Dress is casual.

Feb 4th Minutes

--Our February Social will be held at Jack's in Moline Friday the 27th at 5:30.

--The idea of a Pub Crawl or some other type of event that would involve the downtown bars/business of Moline.  A chairman is still needed for this idea.  If anyone wants to chair this idea, have a plan sketched out for the next meeting.

--The St. Patrick's Day Parade is March 13th at 11:30.  We are still undecided  whether or not we will participate in this event, pending participation with the Rock Island Jaycees, whom I am in the process of contacting.

--We are still needing new ideas to recruit new members.  The idea of posting flyers advertising our meeting and social at area business like the YMCA was a suggestion.  I will construct a flyer and email it to everyone.  Post them wherever you can get permission to.

--Jennifer has received the Birdie Books.  We have 100 to sell.  The cost is $29.95 a piece.  Check out the website for more info about which golf courses are included and the discounts that they offer, here is the link www.thebirdiebook.com/moline. We get $10 for every book we sell.  We also have the option of having other groups selling the books for us and we would get a profit of $5 for every book the sell.

--Another fundraising idea is working in the concessions for the QC Swing.  We would have to commit to 3 set dates and have 4 to 11 people to work each night.  We would get a 10% profit from the sales.

--Highland Park has agreed to host a blood drive with us whenever we coordinate a date with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

--We have nominated Chad Pregracke as our Outstanding Young Person of 2004.  If he agrees he will submit the nomination form to be evaluated by the State and they will choose 10 people to attend a formal dinner in Peoria.

--Our next meeting is going to be held at a different location on a different day to try and break from the norm and hopefully attract some more people to attend the meetings.  You will be contacted by an officer with the date and place.

March 4th Minutes

--Thanks to everyone who showed up!!!!

--Congrats to Lisa, she should have had her baby on Wed.

--Plans are in the works for a Pub Crawl in either April or May in downtown Moline.  Dave and Rich will be co-chairing this event.

--A blood drive will be set up at a future date with Highland Park Bowl and the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.  We will have a drawing at this event and the winner will win a free years membership with our chapter.  By doing this we will get the names and phone numbers of potential members to contact.

FUNDRAISING
--We have chosen 3 dates for working the concessions at the QC Swing games to raise money.  The dates are April 29, May 28, and June 3.  Time is 7:00, we need at least 4 people to work these nights.  Jennifer will confirm these dates when they are assigned to us.

--Dining tour books to sell will be ordered.

--Jennifer is contacting the guy in charge of Birdies For Charity.  We will get pledge books for this fundraiser and take pledges from individuals.  We can pick a charity for the money we raise to go towards.  Birdies For Charity is a program through the John Deere Golf Classic where people pledge money and get to guess how many birdies will be made by all of the golfers.
